NOLA Fashion Week Blogger Panel

One of my best friends in the whole wide world + the inspiration for this blog. Rachel of studioswag.

Rachel + I with the super stylish Julie from SwankHeights.

The amazing stylist for Amelie G magazine + blogger, Katie from Style Cakes.

When it comes to blogging I move at a glacial pace. These pictures are from a blogger panel that I attended with Rachel during the last NOLA fashion week. I wore the classic black sweater/white oxford duo in combination with shorts for more of a smart/playful look. The heat and humidity in New Orleans is almost unbearable however that does not stop me from attempting to layer. Most of the time I have to offset the layering with shorts out of respect for my body + I really like the proportions of long sleeves with shorts. These are from the best selection of mens shorts you can find, which also happens to be at my favorite store, Club Monaco. [I pray for shop online & world peace.]

The blogger panel took place at the super chic Martine Chaisson Gallery in the warehouse district. It was my first time in the gallery and I was blown away, not only was the collection on display incredible, the space is beautiful as well. Sure, everyone expects a gallery to be nice, but I did not expect this French Colonial building to have such a sleek interior.

There were four bloggers featured on the panel: Christine from My Style Pill, Lindsey from Saucy Glossie, Keiko from Keiko Lynn and Bobby from This Fellow. All four were very insightful, talented and stylish bloggers who all have enough followers to be considered baby celebrities. Bobby, the only male blogger on the panel, used a term to identify himself that I have grown very fond of: mlogger - male blogger.

MB Fashion Week: Favorite Look

After careful consideration of all the MB Fashion Week looks from the fall/winter '11 collections I have a favorite. I have always been a fan of GANT by Michael Bastian; everything about this collection has me even more in love with GANT and more particularly the look on the right. Not only does it parallel everything I try to embody in my own personal style but it adds a touch of street style to the prep which is why it is my favorite. The Yellow puffy vest adds that care free street style vibe that is almost impossible to achieve with out being over the top. Exposing the socks outside of the boots and then tucking the pants into them is such a chic touch that I can not wait to try next fall. Bastian's eloquently layering of patterns; camo over shirt, striped oxford, skier pants and classic prep tie all under the yellow make this outfit a great representation of what I try to achieve everyday. Modern/Edgy/Trendy Prep.

School and a Scarf

Since I am constantly making excuses about being too busy in school to blog, let me show you guys what I wear to school. I absolutely despise the guy that comes to class in pajamas, but I do understand the desire to be comfortable when studying. I really like these Levis jeans because they are super soft and when coupled with a relax fit button down they make a quite comfortable outfit. To finish my school ensemble: a pair of tennis shoes and a scarf (that could double as a pillow if needed) keep it comfortable.

Site Photos

Good NEWS! I only have 80 Days until I graduate college! In architecture, which is my major, when a project is first started, normally the site of the project is studied and documented. So, in a recent visit of the site when the professors told us to take "site photos" I thought it would be best to kill two birds with one stone and do a blog post! :) Trying to make my "work" attire a little more trendy I wore combat boots to track over the wet site and a black shirt + jacket allowed me to get messy with my charcoal!

A Timepiece For All Time

I have worn this watch in a few previous posts and I believe it deserves its own. A nice gold watch isn’t just trendy it’s a classic essential. If you are like I am, an Omega or Cartier isn’t really within reach… but hopefully one day! This popular Michael Kors Oversized Runway Watch is a great compromise + a great value. I have had mine for well over a year now and I still wear it all the time, it has just enough “bling.” This watch looks great with any outfit on anyone.

Architect Noir

[Shirt: BDG Tee, Pants: HeRItAGe 1981, Jacket: Perry Ellis, Shoes: Zara, Scarf: UO, Sunglasses: Marc by Marc Jacobs]

Finally, the end is here! Yes, this is my last semester at the University! Architecture school has been exhausting to say the least! Architects are notorious for wearing black, I normally stray away from this stereo type. This week however, I am working in charcoal (and it is extremely messy) so I'm dressing the part.

Fall has arrived! ...but knowing La weather, it isn't here to stay. First Off, Thank You ALL for being so patient waiting on a post, I need to dedicate more time to this! My friendgirl Rachel and I was studying at the greek theater on campus today when we decided to have a little impromptu photo shoot. I love anything & everything monochrome, from design to clothes. Denim on Denim on Denim might seem a little much for some guys, but it has such an easy feel to it. Try it!
